Emeline Winston

Emeline Winston has extensive experience of the museum and exhibition world gleaned from almost twenty years as Head of Exhibitions Organisation at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the exhibitions programme and the project management of individual exhibitions and budgets. She worked closely with curators to create and produce a diverse range of exhibitions.

Emeline managed teams of in-house departments and external consultants to deliver world-renowned exhibitions, including guest curators, exhibition designers, graphic designers and conservators. A large element of her career has involved liaising with lenders from private and public collections, negotiating the detailed and complex conditions of loan to ensure that both lender and artwork are treated with the utmost care. Establishing trust, working efficiently, discretion and diplomacy have been key to developing a strong working relationship with lenders and collectors. At the Royal Academy, she often collaborated with international state organisations and embassies to secure loans. She was also responsible for organising the tours of Royal Academy blockbuster exhibitions to other international museum venues and for negotiating these relationships and contracts.

In 2009, Emeline set up a consultancy for museums, exhibitions and private art collections working with clients ranging from the British Museum, Wigmore Hall, UNISON, and various private collectors and art foundations. This led to Caring for Your Collection being established in 2014.
