Schwarzman Centre, University of Oxford

The Schwarzman Centre at the University of Oxford is the new home for the Humanities Division, with state-of-the-art academic, exhibition and performance spaces. It is at the heart of a transformational investment in the way Oxford teaches, researches and shares the humanities with the world. The team won the bid to undertake a visual arts and exhibition consultancy, researching and writing a foundational report to inform a strategy. This comprised consultations and discussions with a wide range of University stakeholders and partners.

National Portrait Gallery, London

Curator for digital learning content for NPG’s 2024 exhibition Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens, chronicling the representation of Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Katherine Parr throughout history and popular culture in the centuries since they lived.

Curated 100 portraits for a new UK-wide digital learning hub created for every secondary history and art teacher in the country.

Co-produced an exhibition with NPG partner Wolverhampton Art Gallery and the city’s Punjabi community on their migration experiences.

Interpretation adviser to NPG partner Southampton City Art Gallery on an exhibition relating to portraits connected to the city.

Strategic advice on the NPG’s ambitious learning programme following its re-opening in 2023, following a significant redevelopment programme.

Wigmore Hall, London

Curated and delivered a 100-photograph exhibition Wigmore Hall: Portraying Our People. This showcased the work of photographer Christopher Jonas CBE, who captured unseen moments of daily life and rehearsals at the Hall during 2021 - 22. The exhibition is featured across the public spaces at Wigmore Hall.

State Museum, Vienna

Advised the Director of a national collection about a five-venue exhibition tour to European museums. Represented the lender and negotiated the exhibition agreement and contract with the tour organisers and ongoing venues.

TopFoto, independent picture library, Kent

TopFoto possesses a vast collection of classic, rare and unseen images across every subject and era. Its collections relating to 20th-century British social history are of national significance. TopFoto received a Cultural Recovery Grant from Arts Council England in 2020 to bring in one of the team to curate exhibitions based on key British photographers and collections. This exhibition development work will enable TopFoto’s collections to be brought to a wider audience for the first time.

The Mike Stanfield Collection, Oxford

Phase 1: assessed collection and created an exhibition proposal based on the Collector’s unique collection of Cold War propaganda posters and reviews from Castro’s Cuba.

Phase 2: approached various museum and gallery directors nationally and internationally to propose an exhibition of the collection. The House of Illustration created an exhibition based on the collection Designed in Cuba: Cold War Graphics 27 September 2019 - 19 January 2020

Phase 3: acting as consultant and liaison between the lender and the House of Illustration, from negotiating the contract to advising the collector on all aspects of the exhibition up until the opening reception

Artist of international reputation, London

Assessed and catalogued the artist’s work undertaken for an internationally famous rock band, including artwork created for a seminal album, tours and film. We also provided a written assessment relating to the collection, its viability and potential for creating an exhibition.

The Butler Family Collection, UK

Advised the late Sir Michael Butler on negotiations for his collection of 17th-Century Chinese porcelain to travel as an exhibition to China and other venues

All England Lawn Tennis Club, London

Lead consultant for the development of a new Visitor Experience Strategy for the club, which comprises rethinking their existing museum offering.

Private Collector, London

Advised on how to create an exhibition of an early 20th-Century Soviet art collection.  Created an exhibition proposal document, advised on venues and made introductions to museums and galleries.

Aga Khan Development Network, London

First commission: wrote a report on how to create a programme of temporary exhibitions and how to cost them. Provided accurate information on budgets and audience numbers.

Second commission: advised Project Architect on how to create a temporary exhibition space and all the functional requirements.

Third commission: advised Project Architect on the design concept and design brief for temporary and permanent exhibition space.


The North Wall Gallery, Oxford

Advised on a series of exhibitions at the North Wall Arts Centre, from Lenin Photographs in 2017 to The Dambusters and Beyond in 2018, Backstage at the Ballet: Photographs by Colin Jones in 2020 and Changing the Story: Photographs of British Life in Black and White (1917 - 1962). Led the curating process for the Dambusters and Ballet exhibitions and the exhibition development process for the Changing the Story exhibition.

Major University Museum with internationally recognised collections, UK

Created a thought document and outlined a strategic plan for the Director to create an international travelling loan exhibition based on their world-class collections.

University of Applied Arts, Vienna

Advised the museum Director on the loan and collaborative agreements with another European museum for the loan of a whole design archive as a travelling exhibition.  Drafted contracts and negotiated with the borrowing venue on behalf of the museum up to signature of contracts.  Also advised on what should be agreed for the subsequent ten exhibition tour venues and the contract

Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, Great Missenden, Bucks, UK

Working with the Director on governance, staffing structures and setting up ambitious new projects to ensure this museum (est. 2005) continues to remain viable and fit for purpose into the 2020s.

The Worshipful Company of Joiners and Ceilers, City of London

Working with the Master and Liverymen to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the granting of the Company’s Royal Charter by Elizabeth I in 1571. Leading the curating and creation of a public exhibition at the Guildhall Art Gallery April - July 2021. The exhibition was delivered despite setbacks created by COVID-19.

Private Collector, Oxford and Scotland

Phase 1: assessed collection and created an exhibition proposal based on the Collector’s unique collection of photographs of Cuban revolutionary billboards from the 1990s and 2000s.

Phase 2: approached a national museum to create an exhibition based on the photographs.
